Dear Incoming Kindergarten Parents and Guardians

We have rescheduled our Kindergarten Parent/Guardian Orientation.  The new date will be Thursday, June 11 at 6:30pm.  The meeting will be held virtually and an invitation will be forwarded to you when we get closer to the meeting date.

It is our intention to hold kindergarten tours sometime in late August, and Kindergarten screening will take place in the fall once school begins.

Sometime next week you will receive a link to a kindergarten parent/guardian questionnaire that can be completed online.  We find this survey to be a good source of information as we plan for the upcoming school year so your attention to this request is greatly appreciated.

Chances are you have heard from me via email recently if your child was not yet fully enrolled, but if you have any questions or concerns about whether that is the case, please contact the registrar directly.  Her email is corine_burke@needham.k12.ma.us and she is scheduling zoom meetings to allow families to satisfy the documentation process.

I urge all families who have not fully completed the enrollment process and had their required documentation verified to make that a priority, as only children who are fully enrolled will be placed into classrooms.

I am looking forward to meeting all of you and your children in the coming months! Until then, if you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

 Eligibility for Enrollment

All children residing in Needham who turn 5 by August 31, 2020 are eligible for enrollment in full-day kindergarten.

Student Registration

Student registration is a two-part process, which includes completing an online registration form, followed by an in-person verification process with the Student Registrar whose office is located at the Administration Building, 1330 Highland Avenue.  Parents/Guardians are asked to complete both parts of the registration process no later than March 6th.

Visit the student registration page on our website, www.needham.k12.ma.us, to start the registration process and to schedule the in-person verification appointment.

Parents/guardians must bring the following documents to the in-person verification:

  • Proof of Residency, as follows:

Owners:  current real estate tax bill, or town water/sewer bill, or signed P&S.

Renters:  current lease and utility bill.

  • Health History Form
  • Immunization Record
  • Physical Examination completed within 12 months of date entering school
  • Home Language Survey
  • Original Birth Certificate
  • Early Childhood Experiences Survey

Parents/Guardians of students currently enrolled in the Needham Public Schools Preschool need only submit to the registrar the online enrollment for kindergarten, an updated health history form, and new Early Childhood Experience Survey.  The in-person verification appointment is not required.

For any questions about registration, please contact Corine Burke, Student Registrar, at 781 – 455 – 0400 x11245 or corine_burke@needham.k12.ma.us
