Dear Incoming Kindergarten Families,

I am writing to remind you to attend the combined Parent/Guardian Orientation and Kindergarten Student Screening Session you registered for on Friday, May 9 from 8:45-9:45 OR 10:15-11:15. If you are able to attend but have not registered for a slot, please do so using this link or scan the QR code to your right.

 

During the event, children will be escorted to a kindergarten classroom where they will spend approximately 30 minutes with kindergarten teachers and other members of the faculty. Adults will remain in the performance center for orientation. During Parent/Guardian Orientation, Principal Andy Garlick will share an overview of the 25-26 Kindergarten program at Broadmeadow and answer any questions you might have. Adults will also be asked to complete any Broadmeadow specific forms that are outstanding.

I would also like to call your attention to an additional document request. Please take a moment to click on this link and upload a recent progress report for your incoming kindergartener. We will use this document along with the additional material we have collected to better inform our class placement process. If you have not submitted any of the other additional Broadmeadow specific forms or documents listed below the district registration requirements, please make this a priority as well.

Additional Important Reminders:

Prior to Kindergarten Orientation and Screening, please be sure to complete the district registration process so that your children will be ready to be placed in a classroom later this spring. Complete district registration details are included below. Only students who are fully registered will be assigned to a classroom for the 25-26 school year.

 

If you are planning for your child to ride a bus to school, it is also necessary for you to register them for transportation. More detailed information on registering for yellow bus transportation is included at the end of this newsletter.

1. Complete the Online Pre-Registration Form.

2. Upload the following required documents and forms to your child’s account via your PowerSchool parent/guardian portal account. For questions, please contact the District Registrar, Marilu Shepardson. Ms. Shepardson can be reached via email or phone at 781-455-0400 x11205.

 

Required Documents:

1. Birth Certificate or Passport

2. Proof of Residency in Needham

• Owners: Current real estate tax bill, or town water/sewer tax bill or signed P&S
• Renters: Current lease and utility bill

3. Immunization Records

4. Physical Exam (dated within 12 months of date entering school)

 

Required Forms:

1. Completed Health History Form

2. Home Language Survey

Other Forms (if Applicable):

1. Custody Papers

2. Copy of 504 or IEP

The Transportation Department will be using MySchoolBucks for the registration process. The registration window will be Tuesday April 1st at 8:00am through Monday May 16h at 11:59pm. The cost for a bus pass will remain at $415 per student with a family cap of $840.

 

Some buses do fill quite quickly, so please register as quickly as you are able once the registration opens.

 

If you intend on riding the yellow school bus in Needham you MUST register each year, regardless of whether you qualify for free transportation. If you qualify for free transportation, you must still register using myschoolbucks. Upon registering, you will be required to input a form of payment regardless of whether you are fee based or qualify for free transportation. If you qualify for free transportation, It will appear to put a hold on your account for the full amount of your registration, however once we verify that you qualify for free transportation and process the registration we will remove the hold and you will not be charged. Please note that this can take 24-72 hours when registration opens due to the volume of registrations we receive.

 

Please click here to access the NPS Transportation website where you will find all of the information to walk you through the registration process. NOTE that the Myschoolbucks store will not be accessible until April 1, 2025 at 8am.

 

Families can find their child’s Myschoolbucks online ID by logging into their account on the PowerSchool Parent/Guardian Portal and looking for the Online Payment Link in the Navigation Bar on the left of your student screen.
